Welcome to Iron Workers Local 848

Ironworkers Local 848 was chartered January 1, 2007 to provide skilled Ironworker Tradesmen to both states. We are proud to say we have been a part of building the skyline of the Carolina's since the 1930's. Over the years we have provided good wages, retirement benefits and health insurance to thousands of families in the Carolina's and by using local tradesman they are putting money back into the local economy.

Our members are highly trained and skilled in all aspects of the Ironworking trade: Structural, Welding, Fitting, Fabricating, Rigging, Ornamental, Curtain walls, Precast and Miscellaneous such as stairs and hand rail. We have a DOL registered Apprenticeship Program as well as Journeyman Upgrade Program so our members stay up on the latest training including OSHA and MSHA safety regulations.

Training Center

The iron working industry is very strenuous and most tedious. An Ironworker must be alert at all times in order to perform the duties of connecting, welding, installing decking,in addition to bending and pulling of the steel.
